The Pursuit of HappYness...

What is the pursuit of happiness? I just showed that film to my Business Communication students...very touching movie. I was inspired.

I was talking with Allen (he's one of the 4 foreign teachers at BWU) yesterday after our visit with the English Department at Beijing International Studies School and I made a realization...that adversity is something that everyone faces...but just in different forms. The director was a bit reluctant to accept me as a "foreigner." Perhaps, they see who you are by your bloodlines and not your country of birth. And then, of course, Tony dealt with culture shock and a completely different way of doing things.

I tried my hand at banana pancakes and chocolate chip cookies! :) The cookies were good...but...

I have a presentation to give tomorrow night on the spirit of the Olympics...

Happy Spring!

WOW, today is the first day that I can actually view my BLOGGER again! Its like selected days that I can view it or something. Weird.

So, what's new since my last entry?....

I went to the Job Fair for Foreigners on Saturday. It was interesting but mostly for people who wanted to pursue a teaching or writing career in China. There were many companies that were looking for Native English speakers and The China Daily, too. Unfortunately, the power was out when it came time to print out my resume so I didn't really do much at the fair. I went to Beijing Second Foreign Language University's campus and I might teach there next year! :)

Went to Baskin Robbins (they have croissant sandwiches for only 8 yuan!), celebrated Jerry's birthday with the other teachers and even brought Scrabble to English Corner. The students liked Scrabble!

They finally gave me a real mattress so my back problems are better now.

Other than that, just continuing my daily routine of teaching classes, watching movies and making jewelry! There is a new coffee shop that just opened nearby and I often go there now. I made jewelry there one day and they were considering selling some of my stuff there!

I FINALLY got a new camera! I got some money back from my refund and used some of it to buy a new camera at ZhongGuanCun. Still learning how to use it. :)I want to take pictures of the beautiful flowers and of Lucky Jade!

That's all I can think up thats NEW right now.
